Autumn brings cooler weather and for some people also blocked noses, sinus pressure, seasonal colds and that familiar feeling that “something is coming on…”
When the nose becomes blocked, we often start breathing through the mouth. Breathing can become faster or heavier, sleep may be disturbed, snoring can worsen, and something we normally do without thinking suddenly feels much harder.
But what if you knew a few simple breathing techniques you could use straight away?
That’s exactly what our 7-Day Practical Breathing Workshop is about.
Simple, practical breathing tools
Over seven days, I’ll teach you easy techniques you can use at home to:
Help unblock a stuffy nose naturally
Know what to do when seasonal colds and respiratory bugs arrive
Encourage easier nasal breathing
Improve your everyday breathing habits
The aim is simple: to give you a small breathing toolbox and teach you which technique to use and when.
Why nasal breathing matters?
Your nose is designed for breathing. It warms, humidifies and filters the air before it reaches your lungs.
It also has another fascinating role — nitric oxide (NO).
Nitric oxide is produced in high concentrations within the nasal passages and sinuses. When you breathe through your nose, some of it travels with the inhaled air towards your lungs.
Nitric oxide supports healthy blood flow and circulation, helps match airflow with blood flow within the lungs and plays a role in the body’s natural defence against certain microorganisms.
You could think of it as one of the body's little warriors and protectors.
When we breathe through the mouth, we bypass much of this nitric-oxide-rich air.
During the workshop, we’ll explore nasal breathing, gentle reduced breathing, comfortable breath holds and humming to help you understand and improve the way you breathe.
Can breathing exercises help a blocked nose?
Yes. Breathing techniques help reduce the nasal congestion and make nasal breathing feel more comfortable — and you’ll get the opportunity to experience this for yourself during the workshop.
You’ll learn simple techniques using gentle reduced breathing and short, comfortable breath holds — no long or forceful breath holding.
Once your nose feels clearer, it becomes much easier to return to calm nasal breathing instead of automatically switching to mouth breathing.
dōTERRA Air essential oil as aromatic support
We’ll also use the dōTERRA Air essential oil blend as optional aromatic support alongside our breathing exercises.
Its peppermint/menthol and eucalyptus aromas create a fresh, cooling sensation. Menthol can make airflow through the nose feel easier and more open, making it a fantastic addition to our breathing practice.
Small changes can make a big difference
This workshop isn't about complicated routines.
It’s about learning simple techniques you can remember, practise and gradually add to your everyday life.
Your breath is free and it is with you 24/7. Every breath you take is an opportunity to support a more functional breathing pattern.
At first, changing the way you breathe requires a little awareness and attention. But with regular practice, your new breathing habits can gradually become more natural until you no longer have to think about them — they become your new autopilot.
So instead of thinking:
“My nose is blocked — there’s nothing I can do.”
I want you to think:
“I know what breathing exercise I can try.”
